Irrigation Program
Initiated in 1999, the IOJoV project: "Irrigation Optimization in the Jordan Valley" is executed in cooperation with the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA), in two pilot areas of the Jordan Valley: Adassyeh TO2 and Wadi El Rayan TO41.
This project operates on two complementary levels:
- Farms: by the demonstration of adapted "on farm" techniques,
- Irrigation water distribution stations managed by the JVA: by adapting the networks functioning with the management rules in order to improve water distribution efficiency.

Export Program
Due to its hot climate during winter, the Jordan Valley allows agricultural production in this season. This climate allows out-of-season exports to European markets. After an initial market analysis, the MREA had launched a program focusing on some high value crops which could be cultivated in winter in the Jordan Valley and could be flown to Europe.
Initiated in 2002, this program implements production trials and export attempts with farmers, exporters and their associations (JEPAFV and the National Centre for Agricultural Research and Technology Transfer – NCARTT).

Studies

The regional program of agricultural water encourages not only the technical cooperation actions but also it allows enriching the knowledge acquired by field works, accomplishing studies on the theme of water in the region.
Thus, in Jordan the MREA participates currently in two studies:
- the first one is a multidisciplinary study that aims to understand the developments of side basins and particularly the Jordanian Bank of the Jordan River Basin.
- the second study should allow acquiring references on the wastewater use in producing fodders.
